Forty-one kilometres east of Quesnel, on the Barkerville road
Troll sits on Highway 26 near an area known as Wingdam, about forty to forty-five minutes from Quesnel. Open five days a week through the winter — closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The season typically runs from early December to early April, five days a week, with the lifts turning 9:00am to 3:20pm. The kitchen opens at 8:30am, half an hour before the lifts, which is exactly right for a forty-minute drive in the dark.
Check the day before you drive. Forty-five minutes each way is a long way to find out the hill is shut. Cariboo cold snaps and storms can change a day at short notice.

Troll publishes its distance from Quesnel and nothing else. Rather than estimate drive times from Prince George, Williams Lake or Wells, this concept leaves them out.

Highway 26 is the road to Wells and Barkerville. Winter tyres and a bit of clearance make life easier on a snowy morning.
The chalet
Lars built the building, and the benches
The base chalet was cut, milled and built by Lars Fossberg largely single-handedly, along with the tables, the benches and the lift towers. He felled the trees and milled them himself. That is where you eat lunch.
The kitchen opens at 8:30am, half an hour ahead of the lifts. The snow shop, rentals and lessons run on their own line — 250-994-3352 — separately from the lodge, tickets and cafeteria on 250-994-3200.

Check the day of the week
Troll is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It is the most common wasted drive there is, and the easiest one to avoid.

Sort your ticket in Quesnel
Day passes are sold at the hill or at Rocky Peak Adventure Gear in Quesnel. There is no online purchase, and nowhere outside Quesnel sells them.

T-bars mean you are exposed to the wind on the way up as well as the way down. Bring more layers than you think you need.
